Our job is your safety

Employee Participation: We work closely with affected personnel, showing them the benefits of developing an effective PSM program.

Process Safety Information: We can assemble a complete section of PSI, in an easy to use format that includes all of the requirements mandated by OSHA. These include process equipment information, chemicals used in the process, and process technology information.

P&ID's: We can develop a complete set of drawings (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) to comply with OSHA 1910. We can also modify existing P&ID's to reflect system changes.

Process Hazard Analysis: This is one of the most important elements of PSM. Often the PHA is referred to as the "heart of PSM." Our PHA's are conducted using the widely accepted "What-If" checklist.

Standard Operating Procedures: We work closely with your refrigeration personnel to develop and accurate and easy to use set of Standard Operating Procedures for your system. These procedures comply with all of OSHA's PSM requirements. This includes all seven modes of operation:
  1. Initial Start-Up
  2. Start-up following turnaround or emergency shut-down
  3. Normal Operations
  4. Normal Shutdown
  5. Emergency Shutdown
  6. Emergency Operations
  7. Temporary Operations

Training: Cypress offers training at a location of your convenience. We perform initial PSM awareness training in addition to refresher training in order to meet your triannual requirements.

Contractors: We work closely with our clients to help develop an effective contractor section of the PSM program. This includes proper selection, contractor awareness, contractor responsibility, and periodic evaluation.

Pre-Startup Safety Review: Cypress will work with you to develop and maintain an effective PSSR section of your PSM program. This is crucial for the safe startup of a modified system or component. This verifies that safety precautions are taken prior to the introduction of ammonia into the system and affected areas.

Mechanical Integrity: Written Mechanical Integrity procedures for your systems may be developed. These are based upon manufacturer's recommendations, ANSI/IIAR recommendations, ASHRAE recommendations, IIAR bulletins and accepted engineering practices. This also covers issues such as Quality Assurance and Inventory/Spare Parts selection.

Mechanical Integrity Audit: This fulfills your requirement for a 5 year external source inspection of your ammonia refrigeration system. All aspects of your refrigeration system and components, including compressors, condensers, vessels, chillers, evaporators, pipes, valves and etc. are included in the inspection. The inspection does not cover non-destruct testing or x-ray of pipes or vessels.

Hot Work Permit: We work closely with you in developing a safe, easy to use Hot Work program. This procedure is in place to protect employees, contractors, and property against fire, explosion, or other damage resulting from cutting, grinding, or welding on or near a refrigeration system.

Management of Change: We can help develop and maintain a Management of Change program. The MOC element guides you through changes, ensuring a proper review and hazards are identified and controlled before the change is implemented.

Incident Investigation: We will work with you in developing an effective incident investigation program. The program investigates any incidents or near-misses to prevent recurrence.

Emergency Planning & Response: The emergency response plan will allow you to develop specific emergency response plans and provide guidance for emergency response planning issues including response team training and emergency response drills.

Compliance Audits: We will develop a program for auditing your PSM program as required every three years. Or, Cypress can perform this audit for you. Any items found to be deficient should be accompanied by an effective tracking and follow-up mechanism to verify these issues are resolved.

Trade Secrets: Cypress will work closely with you to develop and effective trade secrets section of your PSM program. We will work diligently to protect your trade secrets and will guide you through any affected areas of your refrigeration system.
